Also joining us for the March 2010 retreat is Kumu Brenda Ignacio. Kumu Brenda will be sharing her skills in Ho'oponopono and her love of hula.
Brenda Mohalapua Ignacio is
a Kumu Lomilomi and Kahu (Hawaii Minister) and Licensed Instructor of
Hawaiian Healing Arts. She has appeared in several films
on Hawaiian Healing with other beloved island kumu and featured in magazines
and books on Lomilomi Massage. The films, “Hawaiian Healing,” “Hawaiian
Meditations,” and “Pule Wailele,” have been shown at International
Film Festivals, and as Coordinating Producer for “Pule Wailele,”
she and filmmaker John C. Zak won a coveted Telly Award in 2007.
Co-founder of Hawaii Healing
Arts College on Oahu, Kumu Brenda taught many students to fulfill their
purpose and become empowered by the wisdom given to her by her own teachers,
many of whom entrusted her with formerly secret knowledge that was held sacred by Hawaiian
families.
A native of Hamakua, Big Island
of Hawaii, Kumu Brenda was taught from birth the connection of the spirit
of love in all things, especially nature, by her grandmother.
Formal training in the sacred manner of hula used in youth opened her
heart and mind to her inner dance and expression. She follows the wisdom
entrusted to her by Nana as well as Hawaii’s Queen Lili’uokalani,
and follows her life’s direction as a tribute to their greatness while
sharing her own wisdom gained by her life. She is grateful
to many teachers, among them Ronnie Dudoit, Aunty Margaret, Maka’ala
Yates, Mornah Simeona, Nana Veary, Pali Jae Lee, Ramsay Taum,
and many more, including students who have had gems of wisdom to share.
You
are asked to prepare yourself prior to the training by eating healthy,
limiting meat in your diet, spending more time in nature, eliminating
drugs and alcohol at least 2 months prior to attendance, meditating and
being more mindful of your judgments and fears.
